But years of striving, perfectionism, and pushing myself to exhaustion left my hormones wrecked, my gut inflamed, and my body begging for change. After finding Functional Diagnostic Nutrition and rebuilding my own health through data, nourishment, and balance, I made it my mission to help other women do the same.     I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your stom I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your stomach isn’t necessarily messed up because of the med. It’s more likely that you’re eating the wrong foods. Here’s the short list of no-no’s for you if you’re dealing with bloating and digestive problems. Note that this isn’t universal, just for the girlies who are eating these foods AND struggling with bloating: 🛑 protein powders, especially whey 🛑 protein bars, especially with whey protein 🛑 salads with a ton of raw veggies 🛑 crucifers like broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels 🛑 fat free dairy, sometimes any dairy at all Also on the list: 🛑 raw fruit 🛑 vegetable proteins 🛑 fiber cereals/ bars/ drinks I’m just the messenger 😂 But I also know exactly what works for most women. I get all of my goofiness from him! He’s dealing with mesothelioma like a champ, eating my smuggled protein balls during chemo and keeping his attitude positive. I love you Dad! Pray for strength for John as he does his next 4 rounds of chemo. 🙏 🤗 ➡️ Here’s what he’s snacking on (great for perimenopausal women and anyone in need of a sweet healthy pick-me-up, like Dadums. ✨ Cramp-Free Period Energy Bites Makes: 20 servings Prep time: 20 minutes Ingredients * 1 cup old-fashioned oats * 2/3 cup toasted shredded coconut, sweetened or unsweetened * 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter * 1/2 cup ground flaxseed * 1 cup high-quality milk chocolate chips * 1/3 cup honey * 1/4 cup chia seeds * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract * 2 scoops vanilla protein powder Directions 1. Stir all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl until thoroughly combined. 2. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. 3. If the mixture is too dry to hold together, add honey or water 1 to 2 teaspoons at a time until it sticks together. 4. Refrigerate for easy grab-and-go snacks, or freeze them. They’ll keep for up to a month in the freezer. Jennifer’s note from the recipe: She often makes a triple batch because they disappear quickly. 😆
    Dang it, I did it again. 🙈 I’m headed to Cancun i Dang it, I did it again. 🙈 I’m headed to Cancun in a few weeks with the coolest group of women and I thought, “imma lock this in for the next few weeks”. I decided to add more steps and up my lifts by 1-2/week. What a dummy 😂 The scale jumped up, I felt inflamed, and I didn’t sleep as well. I quickly realized my mistake and apologized to my cortisol reserves and went back to my regular, moderate exercise routine. I did also, however, cut out my Sour Watermelon candy for the time being. Much preferred 🙊 Within a few weeks I was back down 7#, sleeping great, and not as bitchy. When will I learn that more is not always more?! 😂 This is how I locked it all in without stress- effectively and reliably. ⬇️ ⭐️ 🥶 Comment “CHILL”.

    EPISODE 63: How G L P 1s Changed Her Life After Ea EPISODE 63: How G L P 1s Changed Her Life After Early Menopause & Breast Cancer with Lois Essenfeld @loisessenfeld In this episode, I’m joined by Lois Essenfeld, a certified Institute for Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition trainee, to talk about her long health journey through severe endometriosis, medically induced menopause, hormone-positive breast cancer, difficult menopause symptoms, and eventually discovering G L P 1 and p€p tide therapy. Lois was diagnosed with severe endometriosis in her 20s and went through surgery that removed most of one ovary. She was then placed into medical menopause with Lupron and spent more than 20 years on birth control. Years later, at age 48, she was diagnosed with hormone-positive breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. Her experience with Tamoxifen was extremely difficult, and although switching medications helped mentally and emotionally, she continued to struggle with hot flashes, night sweats, joint pain, inflammation, weight gain, and feeling disconnected from her body. Because of her history, hormone replacement therapy wasn’t an option for her. Then she discovered functional health, FDN, and eventually G L P 1 therapy. After starting a low dose of tirzepatide, Lois noticed a dramatic improvement in her joint pain and inflammation within days, followed by improvements in her hot flashes, night sweats, and overall quality of life. Now, Lois is passionate about learning more about p€p tides and helping other women navigate their own health journeys through midlife.     I’d start writing down what’s been changing becaus I’d start writing down what’s been changing because the second someone asks when my sleep, cravings, energy, hair, anxiety, libido or body composition changed, I’m going to forget everything I’ve experienced since 2019. I’d ask for copies of my labs and look at the actual numbers. I want to see my ferritin, thyroid markers, fasting insulin, A1C, vitamin D, B12 and sex hormones because “everything’s normal” doesn’t help me if I still feel awful. I’d ask whether hormone support makes sense for me, and I wouldn’t wait until every perimenopause symptom became unbearable before bringing it up. I’d train to build muscle, pay attention to how I feel after eating and stop buying random supplements without knowing what they actually do. And yes, I’d consider a p3p tide if it were appropriate for me. I’d just want a plan for protein, protecting my muscle, managing side effects and what happens next. If a provider listened to all of this and still told me to “eat less,” I’d ask for my copay back and leave lol.
